今回の日本帰国では、JALの入札アップグレードが無事に通ったため、シカゴ・オヘア空港でアメリカン航空の「フラッグシップラウンジ」を利用して朝食をいただきました。
ラウンジ全体は広々としていて快適ですが、正直な感想を言うと、普段利用しているユナイテッド航空のポラリスラウンジと比べると、少し物足りなさを感じました。
特に気になったのはドリンクコーナーです。ラウンジ内に複数設置されているのは便利なのですが、それぞれ置かれている飲み物の種類が異なるため、欲しいドリンクを探してラウンジ内を移動しなければならない場面がありました。
「いろいろな場所で飲み物が取れる」という点は良いのですが、種類を統一してもらえた方が利用者にとっては使いやすいと感じます。
朝食の内容ももう少しバラエティーを増やして欲しい気がしました。ラウンジ全体の使い勝手やサービスを総合的に見ると、個人的にはユナイテッド航空のポラリスラウンジの方が一歩リードしているという印象でした。
My Visit to the American Airlines Flagship Lounge
For my trip back to Japan, my upgrade bid with JAL was successfully accepted, which gave me access to the American Airlines Flagship Lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. I decided to have breakfast there before my flight.
The lounge itself was spacious and comfortable. However, to be honest, it felt a little underwhelming compared with the United Polaris Lounge, which I have used before.
One thing that particularly stood out was the arrangement of the drink stations. There were several beverage areas located throughout the lounge, which initially seemed convenient. However, each station offered different types of drinks. This meant that I sometimes had to walk around the lounge to find the drink I wanted.
Having multiple drink stations is a good idea, but it would be much more convenient if they all offered the same selection.
I also felt that the breakfast menu could have offered a little more variety. Overall, considering the food, convenience, and service, my personal impression was that the United Polaris Lounge was one step ahead.
